‘Please Stop Rs 2000 Note Circulation in Telangana’

Telangana Government worried a lot on the circulation of Rs 2000 currency notes as people were struggling hard to use the high denomination notes for daily needs.

While the State Finance department already shot off a letter to RBI demanding for the release of small denomination notes, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma brought it to the notice of 2 member central team visiting the state to understand the plights of people in using high denomination Rs 2000 notes for their daily needs.

The official explained the team about the problems being faced by small traders, farmers and daily wage labourers due to currency scarcity for the past two weeks. Non availability of currency notes also troubled the government in releasing pensions to the deserved and the payments to the outsourcing staff this month.

State Finance department explained in the letter to the RBI on how the high denomination note intensified currency crisis further. The Chief Secretary requested for a special package to overcome the financial crisis as state lost revenues due to the demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes recently. He also pleaded with the team for the release of pending central grants and state share in the tax money immediately.
