AP govt. to launch toll free helpline number for women

The AP State government is contemplating plans to implement various measures towards woman empowerment and to eradicate the domestic violence. The state government is planning to launch toll free help line number 181 for women.

It has also chalked plans to start One Stop centre in each district to address the issues of domestic violence. At first, the government is planning to set up one stop centres in hospitals and officials were directed to search land parcels for construction of own buildings for the proposed centres.

Ministry of Women and Child Welfare Peethala Sujatha said that the minimum qualification for Anganwadi schools will be revisited. As per current rules, 10th class standard is sufficient to enrol as Anganwadi teacher. Now, the government is in the plans to make Intermediate or Degree as minimum qualification criteria for being appointed as teacher.

They are also mulling options over implementing uniform for children in the Anganwadi schools. The area specific will be served at Anganwadi schools.
